3 Dimensional Test Cases

The Problem
Minimizing the number of test cases and maximizing the understanding, usability and the ability to automate using QuickTest Professional

The Solution
Create a one row view of each of the test cases resulting into a 3 dimensional view of a ste of test cases consisting of one to two pages for all fields being tested for each screen of the application. The 3rd dimension added was the view that displayed all details at one page which helped reduce the unnecessary repitition, tremendously improved the understanding and and facilitated automation

Hard Work vs Smart Work

The Problem
I used to spend long hours trying to understand the complexity of application and my manager often used to advise working smart instead of working hard.
One day I asked him how could one work smart? I was startled to find out that he had no practical answer. From that pont onwards I researched internet a lot and asked the same question to sevaral different people. You guessed it right. I never got an answer.

The solution
A few months later when I assumed the position of "best tester" in the group, one day it suddenly occurred to me that I was "working smart". It was only then I realized, "Hard work is the foundation for smart work".

Bypassing the Scanning Process

The Problem
Performance test team enountered a tough challenge. It was to create a very large number of images into the workflow indexing applications. The time constraints and resources required to scan such a huge number of images made this task a great hurdle for the performance team. In simple terms the task was to bypass the Panagon Capture scanning process.

The Solution
1. Print the images from the source system to file instead of a physical printer
2. Import the images using the buitin file import function
